The Oak Creek Golf Club would like to make our valued clientele aware of some hardship that the golf course endured during the incredibly poor winter and early spring. The brutally cold March and April, which saw temperatures 10-15 degrees colder than average, caused winterkill in about 8 acres of our Bermudagrass fairways and a few of our tee boxes. This damage was not specific to Oak Creek or Maryland, as similar damage has been seen in Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and as far south as Georgia.
While this is frustrating to say the least, the rest of our golf course is in excellent condition, most notably the greens. Necessary improvements are currently taking place to revitalize these affected areas; as all fairways were recently aerified, sod already placed in the most affected locations and a contractor scheduled to place sprigs in the remaining areas. Please know, we are doing everything in our power to restore the conditions of our golf course to what our patrons expect and will continue to update you on our progress as it occurs.
